Four crash victims remembered at vigil

CHATHAM COUNTY, N.C.

Friends and family gathered to remember the four people who died Saturday.

Among a sea of candles and tears, hundreds remembered the victims -- husband and wife Aaron and Katherine Powers, Christopher Baker, and Rebecca Powell.

"Kathy and Aaron, I've never seen two people love each other more," said friend Brandy Garner. "Chris and Becky had just started dating. They seemed really good together. You couldn't ask for better friends and you couldn't ask for better people."

The couples were headed home late Saturday night when Aaron Powers lost control of his car and crashed into a home. Troopers said the vehicle was traveling at 90 mph at the time of the crash.

However, Monday evening wasn't about the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

"They'd give their last dime, and that's how I want them remembered," said Garner. "They'd give you the shirt off their back and that's how I want them remembered. Not the people from the fatal wreck or that they were speeding. I want them remembered as somebody's loved ones."

The owners of the home told ABC11 the home was vacant and no one had lived in it for quite some time.
