Charges in Fayetteville crash

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.

The incident began when investigators said the driver of a Chrysler 300 was involved in a fender bender with a vehicle driven by officer with the Department of Homeland Security.

The Chrysler took off, and went over a curb on Alexander Street and crashed in the parking lot of the City of Fayetteville Engineering and Infrastructure department.

The driver then got out and ran, but was detained by Homeland Security officers. Police said they found a handgun and stolen property.

Police have charged 35-year-old Damien Evans, of S. Cool Spring Street, with two counts of hit and run, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, fleeing to elude, and possession of stolen goods.

Bond was set at $5,000.
