Candlelight vigil held for slain Fayetteville man

FAYETTEVILLE

Kelly was killed at a house party on Green Valley Drive early Saturday morning when a fight broke out and shots were fired.

Now, Kelly's mother hopes those at the vigil will learn something from her son's death.

Kelly's mother and his family organized the vigil to honor his memory and to call awareness to the tragedy of a young life lost.

"It's unfortunate we have to meet like this," said Deshaun's mother, Sharell Kelly. "I hope that this sends a strong message throughout this whole state, because I want not just people in Fayetteville to learn something from my son's death, I want everyone to come together."

Three men are now behind bars in connection with Kelly's murder.

Nineteen-year-old Darren Tre Bridges was arrested Tuesday. He is charged with first-degree murder.

Detectives have also arrested 18-year-old Elijah Gully and 18-year-old Jerome Robinson in connection with Kelly's murder. Both men are charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder.

A wake for Deshaun will be held Monday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Colvin Funeral Home. Kelly's funeral will be held at noon on Tuesday at True Vine Ministries.
