Car catches fire after crashing along I-40

Police say a car went off the road and caught on fire near Gorman Street in Raleigh early Wednesday morning

A driver was injured early Wednesday morning after their car caught fire along Interstate 40.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. on I-40 near the eastbound ramp to Gorman Street.

Authorities said the car went off the road, then into some trees and caught fire.

The name of the driver and the extent of their injuries are unknown at this time.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

Further details about the accident have not been released.
