Fort Bragg soldier arrested in fatal hit-and-run

FAYETTEVILLE

Officials said 54-year-old David Keller, of Fayetteville, was traveling through the intersection of Morganton Road and Skibo Road Saturday around 4 a.m. on his motorcycle when he was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene.

Police had been searching for a black Cadillac Escalade or pick-up type vehicle with a New Orleans Saints logo on the back of the vehicle. Police said there should have been damaged on the passenger side door area.

Someone saw a vehicle matching the description of the suspect's vehicle at a local auto body repair shop in Fayetteville and alerted police on Monday.

Officers followed up with this information and on Tuesday were able to arrest and charge 35-year-old Sgt. 1st Class Edward William Hall with second-degree murder and felony hit and run.

Hall is assigned to the 50th Signal Battalion at Fort Bragg.

Meanwhile, Keller's funeral will be held Thursday with full military honors.
