Toppled tree knocks out power in Raleigh

RALEIGH

An old oak tree toppled late Saturday night on Lead Mine Road near Lynn Road.

It damaged power lines and knocked out power to homes in about a three-mile radius.

Progress Energy crews worked overnight to repair the damage, and power was gradually restored to residents.

Raleigh police said officers directed traffic.

At last report, the road closures were still in effect.
