CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. --
A Cumberland County high school student was arrested for setting fire to a bathroom trash can, according to authorities. Deputies arrested 16-year old DeOnte Jamar Liggons, of Wade on Thursday.
Detectives said Liggons was seen on surveillance cameras entering and leaving the bathroom at Cape Fear High School. Shortly afterwards a school employee put out a fire in a trash can inside the bathroom.
The teen is charged with burning of personal property. Liggons was released to the custody of his parents under a $3,000 secured bond. He will make a first court appearance Friday.
No one was injured at the school.
