Officers say a shooting took place in the 1300 block of Fidelity Drive in Cambridge Village around 7 p.m.
Police found Patrick Daniel Holmes, 24, of Durham, lying dead in the road when they arrived at the scene.
An eyewitness told ABC11 that when they heard the gunshots they saw people running.
However, no word yet from police on any possible suspects.
