Police: Fake Salvation Army bell ringer arrested

RAEFORD, N.C.

Thursday, 51-year-old Annie Francis King was arrested wearing a Salvation Army apron, ringing a bell, and taking money by walking from business to business on Main Street asking for donations.

Police said King collected almost $20 in change and small bills.

She was charged with obtaining property by false pretenses. Police said King bonded out of jail Thursday night and then missed court Friday. There's now a warrant for failure to appear.

If anyone has any information on her whereabouts they are asked to call the Raeford Police Department at (910) 875-4251.
