The child walked away from his family home with his dog around 1:30 p.m.

There was a massive effort to find Jayston and a lot of people turned out.

"We had people going to each neighbor's house," said Jayston's grandfather J.B. Gilliland.

Jayston was found around 6:30 p.m. about two miles away from his home. He appeared to be in good health with no injuries.

His grandfather says he was worn out and tired when he arrived.

"Oh man, we were just thrilled to death with all the support of people coming out and a good response from people," said J.B. "We're just really thankful to have good neighbors like this."

Jayston had wandered off while his dad was tending to the chickens coops and making rounds on the property.

The grandfather says when the child disappeared so did the family's dog. Thankfully, when the boy was found, man's best friend was by his side.

"We had good thoughts because the dog did not show up," said J.B. "In other words, if the dog had come back, you could think the worst, but since he hasn't showed up we were real encouraged when we find the dog, we'd find him."

Deputies say no charges will be filed.
