It happened around 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
Investigators said 28-year-old Alfredo Contreras-Palacio approached the child playing outside and offered her money to come into his home.
When she refused, he allegedly grabbed her by the wrist and shoulder and started to pull her towards his home.
Two other children ran after Contreras-Palacio and stomped on his feet and pulled the girl to safety.
Contreras-Palacio is charged with second-degree kidnapping and taking indecent liberties with a child. He was placed in Durham County Jail under a $500,000 bond.
