It happened around 11:30 p.m. at a 1-story house at the intersection of Raeford Road and Rim Road in West Fayetteville.

By the time fire crews arrived, heavy smoke could be seen pouring out of the vacant home.
As firefighters searched the home for anyone inside and began to put out the flames, an interior ceiling collapsed onto Captain Darrel Wilson.
Wilson was taken to by ambulance Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with minor injuries. He was treated and released from Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
No one else was injured.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but officials said it appears to be suspicious.
