Arrest warrants: suspects took guns, $150 from victims in Fuquay-Varina shooting
FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. (WTVD) -- According to arrest warrants, three murder suspects killed Arthur Brown, 78, and David McKoy, 66, for $150 in cash and a few guns.
Brown and McKoy were found dead two weeks ago in Brown's home in the 200 block of Howard Road in Fuquay-Varina.
When family went to check on Brown on July 19, they discovered him dead in his bedroom with a wound to his back.
On Saturday, Wake County deputies arrested 21-year-old Gregory Crawford, of Fuquay-Varina, and 20-year-old Kevin Britt, of Holly Springs in connection with the crime.
This exclusive video from an ABC11 viewer shows Crawford's arrest. He was taken into custody at a home on Smithridge Way, a location, incidentally, that's only a couple miles away from where the victims were killed:
Sunday, a third suspect, 21-year-old Donovan Richardson, turned himself in.
Arrest warrants show the three men went into Brown's home armed, and left with a .38 revolver, a shotgun, a Thompson Machine Gun and $150.
"When people take another life out of something materialistic, its useless, senseless," said Carl Diggs, Brown's nephew, after hearing that the men suspected of killing his uncle and long time friend may have been motivated by robbery.
Diggs lives across the street from Brown's home and says Wake County deputies have not left the scene since the murders.
"They worked a lot of hours around the clock, I would come home, they were here, as we speak they are there," said Diggs.
He's says he's glad the long hours and diligence have paid off.
"It was kind of a relief, but then it was sad too, to see some young people throw their life down the drain [sic]," said Diggs.
Now the investigation turns to why. Investigators say robbery but also say this was not a random crime.
The investigation is still ongoing. No word yet from authorities on how or if the suspects knew the victims.
When ABC11 asked family members if they recognized any of the three they said no.
Each suspect faces two counts of first degree murder, burglary and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
They face a judge on Monday.
