BENSON, N.C. (WTVD) -- A man has died after being struck overnight by a passenger train in Benson.

Amtrak told ABC11 Train 98 was headed to New York just after 2 a.m. when it struck a man on the tracks near the Highway 301 overpass.

Police identified him as 44-year-old Aaron Scott Gill of Newton Grove.

There were 298 passengers on the train, including the crew. No one on the train was hurt.

The train was delayed about three hours. Police are still investigating.
