Authorities are looking for the person responsible for a string of break ins in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Investigators with the Orange County Sheriff's Office are looking for a man wanted in connection with a string of recent break-ins.

Deputies say the suspect robbed at least three homes last week in Chapel Hill and Mebane.

One of the victims captured video of the suspect on a home security camera.

The video shows the thief casually rummaging through the house before swiping a flat screen television and leaving through the front door.

Investigators say the robber broke into other homes in a similar fashion.

"He's going in through the windows which, a lot of times people go through the doors," said investigator Dawn Hunter. "The things that he is getting are things that he could easily get rid of."

One of the victims is a disabled woman who said the thief stole thousands of dollars worth of family heirlooms.

She and her husband were caring for his elderly mother last Thursday when they were robbed.

"The back window was knocked out. They went up on the back deck and went in the house and took the money and jewelry," said Ronald Manuel. "Her mother's wedding band, her daddy's wedding rings, the rings that I give her, it's just stuff that can't be replaced."

Investigators believe the suspect is familiar with the areas he targeted.
