Bicyclist injured in Chapel Hill hit-and-run, driver sought

CHAPEL HILL (WTVD) -- Authorities in Chapel Hill are searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that injured a bicyclist.

It happened on Hillsborough Street near Bolinwood Drive.

Police said the bicyclist was going north in the travel lane when the suspect tried to pass and struck the cyclist. The driver then left the scene without stopping.

A witness reported that the suspect's vehicle was a light colored, small SUV and may have damage to the front right or right side of the vehicle.

The victim, who is not being identified, was transported to UNC Hospitals in unknown condition.

Investigators said they would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed or stopped at the scene of the crash.
