Man charged with rape of child in Roanoke Rapids

ROANOKE RAPIDS, NC (WTVD) -- Halifax County Sheriff's Office says a 35-year-old Roanoke Rapids man sexually assaulted a child.

Russell William Hathaway Jr. is charged with first-degree rape and indecent liberties with a child.

Hathaway was arrested Saturday morning.

He was being held in the Halifax County Jail under a $100,000 bond.
