RALEIGH (WTVD) -- When Santa came to town this Dec. 25, he brought a heatwave for the holiday. Temperatures soared Friday and nearly broke a record.
"It's ridiculously warm. I was uncomfortable earlier," said Chapel Hill resident Nick Bryon. "I mean we put on the A.C. last night. We hoped for a white Christmas, but instead we got a dewy Christmas."
The official high hit 74 degrees. That's just one degree shy of the record set six decades ago.

"It doesn't really feel like Christmas to be honest," said Raleigh resident Ryan Meggison.
In North Hills, folks were snapping pictures in front of the tree in shorts and sundresses. Kids were playing outside without a seasonal coat or scarf.
"It's great. I'd rather it to be this way instead of freezing," said Raleigh resident Emily Bernthal.
