ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WTVD) -- Three people are dead after a fiery crash in Rocky Mount early Friday morning.

It happened in the 500 block of South Grace Street around 1:50 a.m.

Even though police have not identified the victims (they're waiting on the medical examiner), people in the area say they know exactly who was in the car: two local church musicians and a photographer who were all in their 20s.

The musicians were Dennis Battle and Jason Britt, keyboard players at the Word Tabernacle Church in Rocky Mount.

Britt toured with a large gospel band called "Mighty Clouds of Joy."

The third man in the vehicle, Kyol Allen, was a photographer in Rocky Mount.

Investigators said their vehicle left the road at the intersection with Chester Street and hit a building, before bursting into flames.

After putting out the blaze, firefighters found the remains of three people in the car.

Investigators said it does not appear any other vehicles were involved and no one else was hurt.

Though police do not know why the car burst into flames, a cousin of one of the victims said that's not the most important thing right now.

"I know the cause is important to detectives," said Bruce Dickens, a friend of all the victims. "But to close friends and family, they lost their lives, we're just hurt by that, you know. That's the most important thing. All three of them are gone."
