Driver hits power pole in Durham
The crash closed Fayetteville Street because of downed power lines

DURHAM -- Fayetteville Street, between Dupree Street and Dunbar Street, was closed in Durham Friday morning after a car hit a power pole.

It appears a driver was intoxicated when he crashed around 5:30 a.m. - as he was failing field sobriety tests at the scene.

The impact knocked down power lines - knocking out power to homes in the immediate area.

Police set up a detour around the crash.

The road reopened Friday afternoon.
