The annual, two-day celebration in downtown Raleigh will include art, dance, food, community and music. The main stage headliners include The Bar-Kays! Details

3. MJ tribute band at Friday Night Tribute Series Friday, 7-9 p.m. | FREE
On Friday nights through the middle of October, the Friday Night Tribute Series at Midtown Park will salute your favorite music legends. Kicking off the series this week is Who's Bad, a Michael Jackson tribute band. Details

4. Paul Mooney at the Carolina Theater Friday 8 p.m. | Starting at $32
Paul Mooney is one of the most brilliant comedians ever. He's written for Richard Pryor, Redd Foxx and Saturday Night Live. He also created the character Homey the Clown on "In Living Color." His routine will stir anger, laughter and thought. Details

5. Kirk Franklin at DPAC Saturday 7 p.m. | Starting at $39.50
For 20 years Kirk Franklin has combined gospel and contemporary music, and he'll bring his sound to DPAC Saturday. He's won nine Grammy awards, and will be joined by Erica Campbell of the gospel group Mary Mary. Details
