FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- A woman accused of shooting her husband to death in Fayetteville early Sunday allegedly did not call for help and instead drove herself to the police department downtown to turn herself in.

The shooting happened just after 1 a.m. in the 5600 block of Bear Creek Circle.

Police said 35-year-old Eva Lynn Hampton shot her husband Vlowski Hampton, 28, after an argument that turned physical.

"She did say they were involved in a domestic dispute. Unsure what they were arguing about, what their argument was about. What it entailed, what all happened, but she did say they were involved in an argument and she did ultimately shoot him," said Officer Antoine Kincade with the Fayetteville Police Department.

Notes from the arrest record show investigators found a .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol on the passenger seat of Hampton's car without ammunition in it alongside a set of car keys.

Hampton is charged with voluntary manslaughter.

In court Monday, a judge set her bond at $350,000.

The couple's children were not home during the shooting. There is a history of police response to domestic violence in the home. The most recent calls are from the beginning of this year with Hampton telling police she "wanted her husband to leave the house," but records don't detail much else.
