Fire damages downtown Durham building
Durham (WTVD) -- An early morning fire damaged part of a historic downtown Durham building Wednesday.
Just before 2:30 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to 118 W. Parrish Street after an automatic fire alarm went off.
When crews arrived, they saw heavy smoke coming from the top floor of the three-story building.
It took firefighters about an hour to get the flames under control.
The fire completely destroyed a room in the photography studio on the third floor. It also damaged a second part of the studio, as well as the roof.
A fitness center on the second floor sustained severe water damage. A first floor restaurant -- 118 Got Soul -- also incurred water damage.
No one was injured, and it did not appear that any other buildings were damaged.
The building was reportedly built in the early 1900s.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation at the time.
