1,700 soldiers from Fort Bragg will deploy to Iraq

FORT BRAGG, NC (WTVD) -- The Pentagon announced Thursday afternoon that 1,700 Fort Bragg soldiers will head to Iraq.

The commander said the deployment of the 82nd Airborne soldiers will take place at the end of this year.

There is no word yet on what their role will be.

Iraq is currently in a fight with ISIS to re-take the city of Mosul.
