Fort Bragg soldier faces 13 new counts in sex assault case

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- A Fort Bragg soldier charged in December with sexually assaulting a juvenile girl is facing 13 new charges, including rape of a child, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office confirmed Thursday.

Marcell Antoine Williams, 39, has been in the Cumberland County Detention Center since his arrest at his residence in the 5300 block of Pringle Way.

Hope Mills police said on Dec. 10 they notified detectives that Williams was reportedly sexually assaulting a family member.

Williams was initially charged with three counts of incest with a child 13, 14, 15 years old, three counts of statutory rape by a person who is at least six years older than the victim, and three counts of statutory sex offense against a person who is 13, 14, 15 years old.

He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail under a $10,000 bond. He appeared in court Dec. 17 where a judge increased his bond to $1,500,000. His bail now totals $5.075 million.
