HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- One of the key figures in the Mike Peterson murder trial is facing new legal challenges.

Former Durham Assistant District Attorney Freda Black was arrested Tuesday around 5:30 p.m. on DWI and damage to personal property charges.

Black was also charged with DWI in October 2012.

Black served as an assistant prosecutor for Durham County from 1991 to 2005.

Former District Attorney Mike Nifong dismissed Black when she ran against him for D.A. in May 2006.

Nifong has since been disbarred for his handling of the Duke Lacrosse case.
