Goldsboro man accused of rape arrested

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WTVD) -- Goldsboro police arrested a suspect accused of sexually assaulting a woman in September.

Police said they responded to a call Sept. 21 around 5:20 a.m. in the 200 block of N. John Street.

A woman said she had been sexually assaulted by a person known to her at his business at 120 East Mulberry Street.

She was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment.

John Crawford Kearney, 43, was arrested and taken to the Wayne County Jail Saturday.

He was charged with second degree forcible rape, second degree forcible sex offense, and first degree kidnapping.

Kearney's bond was set at $300,000 and his first court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
