Cary -- A U.S. Senate candidate favored among tea party followers in North Carolina says he'll get help from one of the national movement's leaders on the last full day of primary campaigning.

Republican Greg Brannon said Wednesday that Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul would campaign with him at a rally at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte on Monday, the day before the primary election.

Brannon has promoted heavily Paul's endorsement of his candidacy. The potential 2016 presidential candidate also lent his name to fundraising appeals.

Brannon is one of eight Republicans seeking to take on Democratic Sen. Kay Hagan in the fall.

Brannon also announced he would appear on the Glenn Beck national radio program Thursday for a third time.
