Shooting at a Fayetteville hotel sends woman to hospital

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Police responded to reports of a shooting early Saturday morning at a Fayetteville hotel.

Officers said it happened around 2:12 a.m. at the Knights Inn Hotel at 2848 Bragg Boulevard.

The victim, 18-year-old Jaimila Smaw, responded to a knock at her door and was shot in the chest by an unknown black male, according to police.

Smaw was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where she is listed in fair condition.

Detectives provided an image of the car the suspect may have been driving when he fled the scene. The car is two-toned with a gray or white top and a dark blue or black bottom.

Detectives are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the vehicle and a possible suspect.
