Lockdown lifted at Johnston County school

JOHNSTON COUNTY (WTVD) -- Glendale Kenly Elementary School in Johnston County was placed on lockdown Tuesday morning as authorities searched for three suspects who ran into a wooded area near the Kenly school.

The school on Bay Valley Road in Kenly was put on alert around 7:30 a.m.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the incident stemmed from a short chase involving a stolen car. The car was ditched a short distance from the school, and three suspects were seen running into a nearby wooded area.

Authorities searched the area for the suspects and the school was placed on lockdown as a precaution. It was later lifted around 11 a.m.
