'Central Park 5' members sue Donald Trump, accuse him of defamation over debate comments

Members of the "Central Park Five" filed a defamation suit against former President Donald Trump on Monday, accusing him of spreading "false, misleading and defamatory" statements about their 1989 case during the Sept. 10 ABC News presidential debate, according to a new court filing.

Attorneys representing the five men -- Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana, Kevin Richardson, Antron Brown and Korey Wise -- filed their civil suit against Trump in federal court in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, seeking monetary damages over his statements, which they say have caused them "severe emotional distress and reputational damage."

The five men, then teenagers, were accused of the violent rape of a female jogger in Central Park in April 1989. The five, who always maintained their innocence, were convicted and served years in prison. A decade after the attack, a different man confessed to the crime, which was confirmed through DNA analysis.

Trump's attorneys have not yet entered an appearance on the court docket as of Monday morning. A Trump campaign spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the lawsuit.

Trump makes lewd remarks about Arnold Palmer at rally in late, legendary golfer's Pa. hometown

Trump kicked off his rally in Latrobe, Pa., with a detailed story about Arnold Palmer, at one point even praising the late golfer's genitalia.

The former president kicked off his rally Saturday with a detailed story about Arnold Palmer, at one point even praising the late, legendary golfer's genitalia.

Trump was campaigning in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, where Palmer was born in 1929 and learned to golf from his father, who suffered from polio and was head pro and greenskeeper at the local country club.

Politicians saluting Palmer in his hometown is nothing new. But Trump spent 12 full minutes doing so at the top of his speech and even suggested how much more fun the night would be if Palmer, who died in 2016, could join him on stage.

"Arnold Palmer was all man, and I say that in all due respect to women," Trump said. "This is a guy that was all man."

Then he went even further.

Tim Walz join ABC's 'The View'

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Vice President Harris' running mate, joined ABC's "The View" on Monday.

His interview comes after Harris herself appeared on the show as part of a media blitz earlier this month.

Walz recently quipped on Trump's visit to a McDonald's on Sunday as part of his mockery of Harris' past employment there. Walz said he took "full responsibility" for the campaign stop after he once joked he couldn't imagine the former president working a McFlurry machine.
