Moore County sheriff to retire May 31

CARTHAGE, NC (WTVD) -- Moore County Neil Godfrey says he will retire May 31.

"I will celebrate my 65th birthday later this month. I have devoted approximately 43 years of my life in law enforcement serving the citizens of Moore County and the State of North Carolina. I have had a very rewarding career and look forward to enjoying retirement. This decision will enable me to spend more time with my family, my church and on projects that benefit our community," he said in a statement.
