19-year-old charged with Roanoke Rapids murder

ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Roanoke Rapids Police Department has charged a 19-year-old in a shooting and crash Saturday evening.

Officers responded to a call around 7 p.m. about a vehicle crash at the intersection of Monroe Street and Preston Street. When they arrived, they said they found the victim - whose name has not been released - with gunshot wounds. The person was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police said it appears the victim was shot in the 100 block of Monroe Street and fled in a vehicle before hitting a parked car.

Now, Keon Montreal Manning of Gaston is charged with murder. He was arrested with assistance from the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

He's being held without bond.
