High-speed chase in Durham
A high-speed chase in Durham ends in a crash and an arrest.

DURHAM (WTVD) -- A driver who led a Durham County Sheriff's deputy on a high-speed chase Tuesday was arrested after he wrecked his car and attempted to flee on foot.

The deputy witnessed a motorist run a red light on Avondale near I-85 about 2:50 p.m. When the deputy attempted to pull him over, the driver instead sped off in an attempt to elude the deputy.

The suspect wrecked his vehicle in the 1600 block of Camden Avenue where he left the car and tried to run away through a wooded area.

EMS took the suspect to a hospital where he is undergoing treatment for minor injuries.

The driver will be charged with failure to stop, resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer, leaving the scene of an accident and possession of a stolen firearm.
