Clayton murder victim identified

CLAYTON, N.C. (WTVD) -- Officers found a man shot to death on Herndon Court in Clayton early Saturday morning.

Police said a 911 call came in around 2 a.m. The victim was found dead inside his home. Sunday, police identified the victim as 25-year-old Garrett Howard Bridges, of Clayton.

Officials told ABC11 it's likely the suspect or suspects knew Bridges.

Neighbors told ABC11 they never would have thought a fatal shooting could happen so close to home.

"I was kind of shocked," said neighbor Jonathan Morales. "I was thinking nothing like this could happen over here."

No arrests have been made. The SBI has been called in to assist with the investigation.
