FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- One driver in Fayetteville found himself in a dangerous situation Saturday after authorities said he drove around barriers on a damaged road and crashed.
Authorities said Darrel Musselwhite, 68, drove his Nissan Rogue into the collapsed road.
It happened around 4 p.m. on Bingham Drive near Tiree Drive. The road was washed out during Hurricane Matthew.
An ABC11 Eyewitness sent in photos from the scene.
Musselwhite was taken to the hospital but was not seriously injured, officers said. He was charged with driving around a barricade into a safety zone.
The FPD would like to remind all motorists not to drive around any barricades that have been placed along closed roadways for your safety.
