GRAHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- A confederate memorial in Alamance County is staying put.
The memorial outside the Old Alamance County Courthouse in Graham has been in question since a group recently called for it to be moved saying it represented slavery and hate.
Another group presented commissioners with a petition with 8,400 signatures asking to keep the memorial in place.
There was also a protest over the weekend supporting the memorial.
While the item was not on the agenda Monday night, Alamance County Commissioners all agreed they weren't touching the memorial -- fearing that removing it would cause division.
