Investigators await autopsy in mysterious UNC Chapel Hill student death
The UNC Department of Public Safety is investigating the death of a UNC Nursing student who was found dead in her car Thursday evening.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WTVD) -- The UNC Department of Public Safety says it is awaiting the results of an autopsy in the death investigation of a UNC nursing student who was found in her car Thursday evening.

Officials said the body of Olutoyosi Layeni Fatolu, age 41, was discovered in her vehicle which was parked at the Friday Center park and ride lot off N.C. Highway 54 - two miles east of the main campus.

"The investigation is ongoing," said a UNC Department of Public Safety spokesperson on Monday.

The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting UNC campus police. While investigators won't comment on whether they suspect foul play, the Orange County District Attorney's Office says both agencies have consulted with it about the nursing student's mysterious death.

A person speaking on the condition of anonymity said Fatolu was found after her husband alerted authorities because he was concerned about her whereabouts.

The School of Nursing declined to comment. A staffer said they're reeling from the news of the student's death.

At this point, officials do not believe there is any threat to the campus or surrounding community.
