School bus involved in accident in Durham, injuries reported

DURHAM (WTVD) -- A charter school bus was involved in an accident in the southeastern part of Durham Wednesday morning.

It happened just before 7 a.m. on NC-55 at Courtney Creek Boulevard when a blue sedan collided with the bus from Healthy Start Academy as it attempted to make a left turn.

There were four children on the bus at the time of the accident, and one of them suffered a wrist injury. The bus driver was taken to the hospital with a neck injury.

The driver of the sedan was also taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Images from the scene showed the entire front of the sedan was damaged in the accident. The school bus also had visible damage to the rear-right quarter panel.

An investigation is ongoing at this time.
