SUV into home
It happened in the 100 block of Honeysuckle Lane

CARY, NC (WTVD) -- A man is in critical condition after crashing into a Cary home early Sunday.

Investigators said William Rafael Garcia lost control and ran into the house in the 100 block of Honeysuckle Lane just after midnight.

The SUV was wedged in the crawl space. Firefighters left it there while an engineer came out to evaluate the structural damage to the property.

The home is a rental, and there was nobody living there at the time.

Neighbors watched as first responders assisted the driver after the crash.

"We saw them trying to pull a guy out, and when they finally got him out they put him in an ambulance. He's in the hospital right now," said Joseph Hefelfinger.

Another neighbor, Lisa Prillaman, called it "very scary."

"And it's the second incident with this poor house. Another car came down once before and wiped out all the crepe myrtles, but veered back into the road. So it's a little sketchy, coming down this hill really fast," she said

That incident, confirmed by the property owner, happened in August 2013 when the car just missed the house.

This time, Hefelfinger says, the SUV came too close for comfort. He told us if he were the tenant there, "I could have been in the room when it happened. That kind of scares me a little bit."

The property owner says the actual tenants will be allowed inside with an escort when they return to Cary. But they can't stay there because for now, the home is considered uninhabitable.
