FRANKLINTON, N.C. (WTVD) -- A teen was killed in an overnight car accident in Franklin County, Highway Patrol said.
It happened around 1:45 a.m. Saturday morning on Hodge Road near Franklinton.
Troopers said a pickup truck was speeding south on Hodge Road when the truck traveled left of center, ran off the road, and struck a tree.
Authorities said the driver, 18-year-old Perry Jackson Frazier, died at the scene. A helicopter took Frazier's 19-year-old male passenger to WakeMed. The unnamed passenger reportedly has serious injuries.
Frazier, from Louisburg, was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, troopers said. Alcohol was said to be a factor.
Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
