Victims identified in fatal wreck on I-40
The State Highway Patrol says Kevin Johnson and a passenger in his car were killed.

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Two people killed in a horrific crash in Wake County have been identified.

It happened around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, shutting down I40 West close to White Oak Road.

The State Highway Patrol says Kevin Johnson was in the far right lane driving at a slow speed because of a flat tire.

Troopers say two other cars came up behind his car.

One was able to swerve around Johnson's car, but the other could not react in time.

Investigators say Johnson and a passenger in his back seat - 48-year-old Rickie Neal Richardson Jr. of Fuquay-Varina - were killed.

Johnson's sister Felicia and her daughter were taken to Wake Med.

The driver of the car that hit them, Jermaine Judd, was also rushed to Wake Med with serious injuries.
