KINSTON, NC (WTVD) -- Gov. Pat McCrory called for a special legislative session Friday to discuss Hurricane Matthew recovery efforts.
McCrory's Hurricane Matthew Recovery Committee held its fifth and final regional meeting Friday in Lenoir County. During the meeting, McCrory called for a Dec. 13 special session to discuss plans for relief efforts and ongoing community outreach assistance.
"Now that we have received input directly from the communities most impacted by Hurricane Matthew, I am officially requesting that the legislature convene for a special session to address these important needs as quickly as possible," said Governor McCrory.
McCrory said long-term recovery for those communities most affected by the storm needs to be addressed.
