Millbrook Magnet High shifts to Code Green after loaded gun found

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Extra security will be present at Millbrook Magnet High School on Thursday following threats made toward the school through text messages and social media.

This follows a Code Red lockdown on Wednesday, during which officers discovered a student on campus with a loaded gun.

Raleigh police arrested 18-year-old student Malcolm McIntyre, charging him with a felony for possessing a gun on educational property. He also faces misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, carrying a concealed weapon, and resisting a public officer.

Principal Dr. Brian Saunders stated, "We take any and all potential threats to our school seriously. As soon as we were made aware of these reports, we contacted WCPSS Security and law enforcement, who are investigating to evaluate the credibility of the threat. Out of an abundance of caution, we will have additional security personnel on campus today."

Saunders urged parents to discuss with their children the importance of reporting threats to school administrators immediately.

On Wednesday, East Garner Elementary also went under a Code Red lockdown. Police say there was a student threatening others with a "bladed weapon."
