Fifth juvenile charged in Raleigh July 4 weekend shootings, police say
RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A fifth juvenile has been charged in connection with the July 4 weekend violence that left nine people shot across Raleigh, according to police.
Raleigh police said detectives obtained an arrest warrant on July 17 for 17-year-old Kenna Daughtry in connection with the shooting at 850 Capital Blvd.
Daughtry was taken into custody July 18 in Goldsboro with assistance from the Goldsboro Police Department and was processed as an adult before being transported to the Pitt County Juvenile Detention Center. She faces charges including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, discharging a weapon into occupied property, going armed to the terror of the public, possession of a firearm by a minor and discharging a firearm within city limits.
The arrest marks the fourth shooting investigation from the July 4 incidents to be cleared by arrest. Police said five juveniles have now been charged across the four cleared cases.
The latest arrest follows an announcement Thursday that a 16-year-old juvenile was charged in connection with a shooting at 610 Glenwood Ave. They were charged with:
- Two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury
- Going armed to the terror of the public
- Possession of a firearm by a minor
- Three counts of discharging a firearm within city limits
The charges stem from one of several shootings that unfolded in and around the Glenwood South entertainment district during the morning hours of July 5.

Police said a series of incidents tied to large gatherings of juveniles, described by investigators as "teen takeovers," resulted in nine people being shot across Raleigh. Authorities estimated thousands of teens gathered in Brier Creek and later moved to Glenwood South, where multiple fights and shootings were reported.
Earlier this month, Raleigh police announced Justin Brown, 16, had been charged in connection with a shooting at 14 Glenwood Ave.
Investigations into shootings at 700 Tucker St. and 620 W. Lane St. remain active.
Raleigh police said they remain committed to holding those responsible accountable, regardless of age.
