RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Customers remained without power late Friday after an outage from downed trees also closed a portion of Leesville Road.
Duke Energy initially estimated power would be restored by 2 p.m., but part of Leesville Road remained closed as of 4 p.m. Crews had restored power to about half of the affected customers by that time.
For Michael Hall, the outage raised concerns about the possibility of additional disruptions and falling trees if more storms move through the area this weekend.
"I'm definitely worried with all these trees around us," Hall said.
Hall said he spent hours without electricity and tried to keep food cold while helping his family manage through the outage.
"I just said, let's not open the fridge," Hall said. "Let's just leave it shut. I'm hoping it'll last till the power comes back on."
Paula Snyder described the outage as an inconvenience but said she was handling the disruption as best she could after having to open her garage door by hand Wednesday morning.
"It's irritating and luckily it's a pleasant day and it's still cool in the house," Snyder said. "I'm just trying to get through the day."
Utility crews continued restoration efforts Wednesday afternoon as some customers remained without power.
