FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- City officials in Fayetteville announced Tuesday that red light cameras are coming to five more intersections.
The city activated six new cameras at noon on Tuesday, with others installed throughout Fayetteville since July.
So far they have caught nearly 2600 and about 1100 of them have paid the $100 fine.
City officials said it's not so much about the money as it is about keeping drivers safe.
According to police, the cameras help cut down on accidents at intersections.
For a week, the new red light cameras will only issue warnings. The $100 fines will be issued starting October 14.
