Rocky Mount man charged in death of 2-year-old

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Rocky Mount man is charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 2-year-old child.

Police said the boy was found unresponsive at a home in the 1000 block of Tarboro Street Monday.

An autopsy later determined the child was murdered.

Investigators said 27-year-old James Donnell Thorne - who is the boyfriend of the child's mother - was taking care of the boy when he died.

Thorne was being held in the Edgecombe County jail without bond.
