Nearly 50 arrested in Rocky Mount

ROCKY MOUNT, NC (WTVD) -- The Rocky Mount Police Department has arrested 49 people after a month-long undercover investigation of drugs and people with outstanding arrest warrants.

Operation Blue Heat also involved the United States Marshals Service Eastern District of North Carolina Violent Fugitive Task Force.

The Rocky Mount Police Department's Narcotics and Gang Task Force used undercover officers to buy drugs and make arrests. In addition to drugs and cash, seven illegal guns were seized.

Rocky Mount Police Chief James Moore said the object is to make neighborhoods safer.

"The fact that these 49 people are off the street today, there will be people to follow them. We will be out searching for those individuals, getting narcotics buys from them and arresting them too," he said.
