One killed in crash south of Sanford

SANFORD, NC (WTVD) -- One person was killed in Harnett County when a van crashed south of Sanford late Wednesday night.

It happened on an overpass at Highway 27 and Highway 87.

Investigators said it appears the driver was on Highway 27 when the vehicle went off the overpass, down an embankment, and overturned on Highway 87 below.

The driver was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.
